EVENT: Exhibition "Hidden treasures of the museums of Jakarta"

Period of exhibition: 14 June – 24 July

Location
Erasmus Huis

The exhibition `Hidden treasures of the Museums of Jakarta' is an accelerated result of a cooperation project between the DKI Jakarta, The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam, the City of Rotterdam and the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta. Since November 2006 a project is going on for further professionalization of the DKI Museums and the Conservation Laboratory in Jakarta which will last until 2009.

In this exhibition the Indonesian partners in this project show their hidden treasures. Each museum has made a selection of highlights of their collection and of objects of which the function or meaning are
not known. The venue of the exhibition is the Erasmus Huis as the Dutch Government is paying the bulk of the project.

As the City of Rotterdam also pays part of the project, the theme of the exhibition is the relation between Indonesia, particularly Jakarta and the City of Rotterdam in the past.
